Product innovation and diversification for export markets will be the focus of discussions at the international seminar organised on Sunday (February 2) as part of Coir Kerala 2014.
Hon’ble Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Shri Vayalar Ravi will inaugurate the day-long seminar at 9.30 am at the Coir Kerala international pavilion. Hon’ble Minister for Revenue and Coir Shri Adoor Prakash will preside over the function.
Shri S S Gupta, Handicraft Development Commissioner, Government of India; Smt Rani George, Secretary (Coir), Government of Kerala, and Dr K Madanan Director of Coir Development will speak at the inaugural session.
Mr Dilip Tambyrajah, Secretary, International Natural Fibres Organisation based in The Netherlands, will deliver the inaugural lecture on innovation strategies for the international coir sector. It will be followed by a panel discussion chaired by Shri V R Prasad of TMMC Chertala and moderated by Dr K Balan, Professor, College of Engineering, Trivandrum.
Hon’ble Minister for Finance Shri K M Mani will inaugurate the afternoon session which will feature a talk by Mr Klaus Schmanski, Purchase Manager at the Germany-based Otto Golze and Sohne on the future of PVC Coir Mats and a demonstration of Handicraft with coir fibre by German designer Ms Verena Schaetzlian. Panel discussions in the afternoon session will be chaired by Shri D Sugathan, MLA.
